Submit an abstract

The higher education system operates at the intersection of student ambitions, labor market demands, and the expectations of society and the state. In navigating the balance between private and public interests, universities are constantly faced with choices — whether to prioritize improving the quality of life for participants in the educational process or to pursue broader goals such as social justice, the advancement of scientific potential, and the preservation of cultural values.

Is it possible to achieve a harmonious integration of these diverging orientations? How should universities and other social institutions evolve to create optimal learning conditions, given that the needs and objectives of different groups often contradict one another? What compromise strategies are currently being implemented in practice? How is higher education adapting to shifting societal demands and emerging technological challenges? And how can the efficiency of the higher education system be enhanced while accounting for the interests of various social groups? These and other questions will be discussed at the XVI International Conference on Higher Education.

We are accepting submissions related to management practices in higher education, the balance between theoretical and practiceoriented education, approaches to fostering well-being and diversity within university communities, students’ career expectations and educational outcomes, and strategies for enhancing research productivity among faculty members. We also welcome applications for papers on higher education research in other areas.

Place: 11 Myasnitskaya Ulitsa, HSE University
