Higher Education and Pandemiс: new challenges and sustainable responses
The COVID-19 pandemic has altered almost everything in our lives. Nonessential businesses have been forced to close, stay-at-home and physical distancing orders are in place, and remote work has taken over. Along with the rest of the world universities faced a situation of complete uncertainty. They had to tackle one of the greatest challenges, how to provide students services at the accustomed level while adhering to new health and safety rules. The pandemic has forced universities to quickly adapt to new ways of teaching and other day-to-day processes like work of financial departments and admissions offices. Universities are still adapting to the environment where they have to act depending on public health orders, limits on the size of gatherings and the relaxation of international travel rules.
What all of us need now is a thoughtful dialogue among stakeholders of higher education: students, faculty, employees and administration. It is what can become a tool to overcome current challenges with greater success and find sustainable solutions.
The special topic of RHEC 2020 is "Higher education in a pandemic: new challenges and modern solutions."
